چکیده

Based on our previous finding that Zn is preferentially taken up in rat brain tumors, we examined the uptake of various radioactive elements in a rat brain tumor by using the multitracer technique. The multitracer solution was intravenously injected into rats 14 days after intrahippocampal injection of C6 glioma. Brain distribution and blood level of radioactive elements were determined 1 h after injection of the multitracer solution. Fifteen radioactive elements were detected in the brain and/or blood. Zn, Rb, and Mn were preferentially taken up in the tumor, compared to other radioactive elements. The uptake rates of Zn, Rb, and Mn in the tumor were significantly higher than in the cerebral cortex, cerebellum, the rest of the brain and in the blood. These results suggest the potentiality of radioactive rubidium and manganese, in addition to radioactive zinc, for brain tumor imaging.

Comparison of brain SPECT with 99mTc-MIBI and CT-scan in discriminating of radiation necrosis and brain tumor recurrence [Persian]

Introduction: 99mTc-MIBI has been proposed for use as an imaging agent for various tumors, including breast cancer, lung cancer, lymphomas, melanomas and brain neoplastic lesions. Brain tumors are very common and radiotherapy being major part of treatment following surgery. After radiotherapy, deteriorating clinical status can be due to either radiation necrosis or recurrent tumor. Comput...

Zinc-65 imaging of rat brain tumors.

The uptake of zinc, an essential nutrient, is critical for cell proliferation. On the basis of the idea that zinc uptake can be an index of viability in proliferating cells, tumor imaging with (65)Zn was performed using autoradiography. After s.c. implantation of ascites hepatoma (AH7974F) cells into the dorsum, 1 h after i.v. injection of (65)ZnCl(2), (65)Zn uptake in the tumor was higher than...

18FDG PET/CT in pulmonary carcinosarcoma and brain metastasis

Carcinosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that is composed of a mixture of sarcomatous and carcinomatous elements. Pulmonary carcinosarcoma has a 25% five-year survival rate with a prognosis poorer than other non-small cell lung carcinomas. Herein, we report a case of pulmonary carcinosarcoma and its 18F-FDG PET/CT findings. A 61-year-old male patient presented with brain symptoms, including hea...
